Good Friday Walk of Witness

On Friday 14th April, 11am-1pm, we are having a Walk of Prayer and Witness, using what are called the Stations of the Cross, from the top of Lord's Wood down to Lord's Hill Church. 


You are invited to join us for some or all of the Walk, or to join us at the Station/stopping point most convenient for you. You may even bring your dog along if you have one! 


The Stations of the Cross are a way of following Jesus from his condemnation to death by Pilate to his death and burial. Traditionally there are 14 stations, where those following that Stations stop, look at the picture, hear some words of Scripture and share in prayer, before moving on in silence  to the next Station.


The point of our walk is to increase our own faith, by following something of the journey of Jesus to the Cross, but it is also a way for us to pray for some of the parts of our Parish of Lord's Hill and Lord's Wood, and for us to bear witness to the love of God to those around us. 


Here are our 14 Stations and approximate timings:


11am - Corner of Coxford Rd & Dungevan Drive - 1st Station - Jesus is condemned to death

11:10am - On footpath behind Balmoral Close, Lordswood - 2nd Station - Jesus receives the cross

11:20am - On footpath behind Dungevan Drive bungalows - 3rd Station - Jesus falls the first time

11:30am - Outside Oakwood School - 4th Station - Jesus meets his mother

11:40am - Corner of Turnstone Gardens & Sandpiper Road - 5th Station - Simon of Cyrene

11:50am - Tanner's Brook by Lord's Hill Way - 6th Station - Veronica wipes Jesus's face

12 noon - On footpath behind Sinclair School - 7th Station - Jesus falls a second time

12:10pm - By subway behind Menzies Close - 8th Station - The women of Jerusalem

12:20pm - By Lord's Hill Community Centre - 9th Station - Jesus falls a third time

12:30pm - Outside Sainsbury's - 10th Station - Jesus is stripped

12:35pm - Outside Claire's Cutting Room - 11th Station - Jesus is nailed to the cross

12:40pm - Outside Lord's Hill Health Centre - 12th Station - Jesus dies on the cross

12:45pm - In Church - 13th/14th Stations - Jesus is taken down from the cross and is buried


Refreshments will be available in Church after the final Stations until 2pm when we will have a devotional service.
